“ ‘Think3d is AWESOME!’ These were Elsie’s first words to me, unprompted, after school today. And, 30 mins later, she’s still showing off all the critters she made. She said that lots of kids kept making more and more after the session.”

what's included in the think3d! box
A collaborative program, each pair of students gets their own box including:
Six Folders, A through F, each containing a set of engineering design and spatial reasoning challenges.
11”x17” diagram sheets describing challenges transforming a single piece of paper into a 3-dimensional model.
8 1/2” x 11” sheets describing the folding sequence for origami models.
Sets of pre-folded origami models for reverse engineering and 11”x17” and 3”x3” paper for students to illustrate folding sequences.
Die cut letter models for reverse paper engineering.
Applied paper engineering model and diagram sheets.
2D to 3D paper engineering challenges for in-between the classroom sessions.
A box of origami paper for each of two students. (30 sheets each.)
A set of paper engineering paper for each of two students. (60 pieces in each set.)
Recycle/re-use: Students transform the 2-D paper contents of the think3d! box into 3-D models.
Access to the Teacher Video Tutorials - line animations describing each challenge within each of the six sets in each module.
For 4th, 5th and 6th grade students
The Think3d program delivered as multiple think3d! boxes (2 students per box). All the materials needed to complete the six sets of spatial reasoning challenges and access to the Teacher Video Tutorials.
The program allows for a wide range of class sizes and for grade-wide, or, school-wide implementation.
For 5th and 6th grade students who have completed module 1
The Think3d program delivered as multiple think3d! boxes (2 students per box). All the materials needed to complete the enclosed six sets of spatial reasoning challenges and access to the Teacher Video Tutorials.
For 6th grade students who have completed module 2
The Think3d program delivered as multiple think3d! boxes (2 students per box). All the materials needed to complete the enclosed six sets of spatial reasoning challenges and access to the Teacher Video Tutorials.
For 3rd and 4th grader students
The think3d! program delivered as multiple think3d! boxes. All the materials needed to complete the enclosed six sets of spatial reasoning challenges.
Teacher Video Tutorial Example:
1: flapping butterfly
origami
Transform a flat piece of paper into a 3-dimensional model by following a sequence of diagrams to construct the flapping butterfly origami model.
“My son had his friend Jakob over for a sleepover. There were a bunch of things that he wanted Jakob to bring…. His DS, his light saber, his comic books, and his think3d! origami paper. They had fun, played, then went to bed. In the morning, I heard the boys up early, but they were very quiet. My wife and I stayed in bed awhile, enjoying the relaxing weekend morning. Still, the boys were exceptionally quiet. No morning cartoons, no running around the house, etc. When I went downstairs, I found that the boys had been folding paper for two hours!”
